Job Summary:
The Dairy Extension Officer will be responsible for conducting trainings aimed at increasing milk production and productivity, supporting disease control interventions, and building the capacity of dairy farmers in business management and development. This role requires expertise in dairy farming practices, strong communication skills, and the ability to work closely with farmers and farmer organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct trainings aimed at increasing milk production, productivity, and supporting disease control interventions within the region.
2. Build and strengthen the capacity of dairy farmers and farmer organizations in business management and development to increase profitability at the farm level.
3. Strengthen and empower dairy farmer groups, associations, and cooperatives by helping to build their capacities and abilities to effectively handle milk collection.
4. Develop and implement training programs tailored to the needs of dairy farmers.
5. Provide technical assistance and support to dairy farmers to improve farm management practices.
6. Monitor and evaluate the impact of training programs and interventions on milk production and farm profitability.
7. Collaborate with other stakeholders, including government agencies and non-governmental organizations, to enhance the effectiveness of extension services.
8. Maintain accurate records of training sessions, farmer participation, and outcomes.
9. Prepare and submit regular reports on extension activities and progress.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Agricultural Extension, or a related field.
• Proven experience in dairy farming, extension services, or agricultural training.
• Strong knowledge of dairy farming practices, milk production, and disease control.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in MS Office and data management tools.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Willingness to travel within the region to conduct training and support farmers.
